0)DRAW YOUR PUPPET, THINKING ABOUT IT
-What or Who is it? (a wizard, an animal, a fruit, an object....)
-Personality ( is it usually funny, sad ,angry, tired, excited...?
-Features (has it big ears, pink cheeks, green leaves, white tooth, long branches, hairy moustache...?)
- Colors ( how can them to express puppet feelings?)
- Clothes (how color are t-shirt, how to use the material: details, belt, pockets, jewelry)

1)
MAKING PUPPET HEAD
DIFFERENT
SHAPES
The
shape of the head can be espherical, conical, triangular,
extended,
long, deformed,etc
BALLOON
One of the simplest and
most useful forms that you can
create with paper mache is the simple
rounded object made
from an small balloon.
a)Blow air into a balloon until you reach the desired size.
b) Seal the balloon with a tight knot to keep the air in.
c) Rip up a bunch of newspaper strips and apply them to your
balloon, criss-srossing them as you overlap them using
your brush ( not your fingers)
2)
MAKING THE NECK
The neck is made with a tube of toilet paper and then covered with strips of glued paper to get the rough shape of the head.
3)
ADDING FEATURES (EARS ,EYEBROWS, NOSE, LIPS,...)
-NOSES
-EARS
-EYES
-LIPS, JAW AND CHEEKS
After
You make a couple layers on the balloon you will ball up some paper
to add the facial details .Do not try to be realistic. Be expressive.
Exaggerate features of the face.
-Stick
on two balls of newspaper for the cheeks
-Using a
twist of newspaper doubled over upon itself, form the nose.
-Loop
another twist under nose and cheeks to form a chin. Make it as
bulky as need be.
4)IMPROVING
DETAILS
Put
another layer of paper over the facial details to smooth it all out.
Let dry over night.
5)
PAINTING THE FACE AND NECK
You are
now ready to paint the face:
Once
that is done and dry, you can paint a face on your puppet. It’s not
a bad idea to coat the whole head with a base coat of acryllic (you
can use left over interior house paint) and tintit to a skin colour
(eg raw sienna).Be bold, bright, and simple. You are not painting a
doll’s face. A puppet must look good at a distance.
PAINTING EYES , WRINKLESS, LIGHTS AND SHADOWS
6)DECORATING
THE HEAD
6.A) Add hair and other bits and pieces.

7)MAKING
CLOTHES
